never rest…play, and always be at peace

“Sir, this is a unique dog. He does not live by tooth or fang. He respects the right of cats to be cats although he doesn’t admire them. He turns his steps rather than disturb an earnest caterpillar. His greatest fear is that someone will point out a rabbit and suggest that he chase it. This is a dog of peace and tranquility.” – John Steinbeck, Travels With Charley

“Outside of a dog, a book is a man’s best friend. Inside a dog, it’s too dark to read.” – Groucho Marx

I know there are no words. I feel for you, Tim. I wish I could do more.

I have to agree – I wish there was something that I could say that somehow made this easier for you. I think doing what is easy for us, and what is best for our companions are sometimes two different things, and you had the courage to do right by River. I will be thinking of you and River for many days to come. Please know you are in so many hearts.

That is my favourite photo of you and River – the one which got me to reading your blog in fact. I can’t help but smile when I see it.

    Thinking of you!

All I can say here is I know exactly what you’re going through, and I know exactly what you’re feeling. I’m always here if you need a hug/cookie/coffee/bad joke, and usually “here” is right around the corner from you.

    Yeah, what Rhonda said…

I love you and I’m sorry I couldn’t stay and hug you all night last night — you looked like you were in good hands. Shoot us an e-mail or phone call or courier pigeon if you need anything.

Hey. I’m so sorry. I can’t imagine how you must feel. My thoughts and prayers are with you.
