I was reading and marking up stories submitted for the anthology Becky and I are editing when Pixie and Penny jumped up on the sectional with me. It was as if they were taking a moment to check on me, saying, We’re okay. Are you? I grabbed my camera and snapped the above picture. We’re okay, but we miss you, Rex.

Today will be the first official, on-my-own, afternoon playdate with all The Compound Dogs since last Tuesday. They are getting new marrow bones as a treat. Earlier, when I opened the freezer to make sure I had enough, I thought, Oh, there are six. I only need five. It didn’t strike me until I read this that my math was wrong.

Dogs are so intutive and they know how to give the right amount of love. I’m sure they will continue to check on you.
I was reading all of the wonderful comments posted about Rex. He touched so many people, many he never met. What a beautiful legacy.
I hope your pain eases, I hope you feel the love and concern from Rex’s followers I know Rex is watching over you.
Take care, Timothy Lambert, you have earned an angel above and Rex is riding shotgun.

    • It’s a bizarre thing. I don’t pay much attention to my web stats and had no idea how many people were checking in weekly to see what Rex was up to. It’s very touching to know so many people cared about him.

I’ve been thinking of you, Timothy. Good to know that you’ve got Pixie and Penny with you.

don’t you just love how they love you? i mean besides the fact that Penny’s face always seems to look like a jigsaw puzzle whose pieces fit but make different pictures…. i love each and all of you.

  6. jim says:
